Taylor Colton's author study
I picked Dan Brown because I have read some of his books before and they really pull me into the story. I hardly ever read any books but when I skimmed the first couple pages of Angels and Demons I was pulled in right away. I am interested in finding out why Dan Brown wrights what he wrights. If he is especially interested in the genre of mystery and suspense or if it is related to something either himself or someone he knows experienced. I am also interested in what goes through his mind when he wrights.
The character I chose from the book Angels and Demons is Robert Langdon. His is a Professor of Ideology and Symbology at Harvard University. He is a genius in his profession, he is kind of in-humorous, and a workaholic. The thing that I can relate to about this character is that he collects art, relicts, and historical artifacts and studies their Symbolism and Religious Ideology, which is an interesting subject to me.
ReplyDeleteWhen my author writes he uses a lot of detail. Describing every detail in depth. In the story he describes a plane that travels through space. He talked about what the earth looked like from above. Also how it felt to be so high up.
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't really structure the way he writes in a certain way. He writes through his emotion as if what he was writing was a free flowing thought. The text contains much dialog so the reader can really get a feel for the characters. The way he writes is in detail but at the same time full of emotion and thought. It really contributes to the mood because of that.
The pros of my author are many. He is very intelligent so he uses a lot of intelligent words as well as he is good at playing mind games with the reader. When he writes about something he creates an idea of the ending for the reader. Its a general idea but an idea none the less. Then somewhere towards the end of the book he creates a twist that forever alters the readers perception of the ending. Then sometimes somehow he will bring that general idea back.
ReplyDeleteI really like this because it keeps me as well as many other readers on edge throughout the story. It really helps me communicate to other readers because his stories become so invigorating to me that it gives me so much to talk about with other people who have read the same title. It helps me learn more about my author in the sense that I can tell more about his personality and mindset about life, because generally someone's actual thoughts and opinions reflect in their writing. This story truly makes me want to know more about my author because he seems like a very interesting person. The way he uses words and messes with the readers head is really cool to me.
